Day before Thanksgiving

This is one of my recent favorites. The brushes just glided over the panel and the paint behaved very well. I love when it all comes together like this.

Laguna de Santa Rosa in Sebastopol

Probably my favorite studio painting to date. I believe I nailed the light and feel of the day at the Laguna de Santa Rosa in Sebastopol.

The resurection of the black hole in my studio

This area of my studio has been such a useless eyesore for so long. I definitely needed to create more storage and lots of order where chaos reined before.

I spent the last three days creating this rack to store all the flotsam that was crammed in here. Now I have a decent area for my oil paintings and blank canvasses and panels as well as the framed pieces that were leaning against the wall. With a little shifting of my big easel and a shift in the position of my taboret it was a smooth transition.

Now there's some order here

Family portrait studies in oil on board.

Starting in October 2013 I did this series of family portrait studies. Stella was my first foray into a looser, more painterly style. It has been freeing after so much exacting illustration work.

Quick studies from Sonoma trip

I got out to paint twice on this journey. I joined an old friend at a dairy farm on Wednesday and Sunday before dinner I painted the driveway where we were staying.

Sonoma Plein aire 2014

While I was down in Sonoma county celebrating our granddaughter's birthday visiting with family and painting, this wonderful event was going down. I was impressed by the roster of artists there. I went to the "Quick Draw" event Tuesday evening and the exhibit on Saturday. Next year I hope to be part of it. Here are some shots I took:
